The Macba Collection

During the summer the Museu d'Art Contemporani de Barcelona offers a new, wide-ranging exhibition of the MACBA Collection which includes more that 160 works of art and will occupy three floors of the museum. The museum will display works that have yet to be seen in this context, as well as its more recent acquisitions.
The exhibition will start off with the artistic debates which dominated art in the fifties, illustrating the crisis in values that the European post-war period went through. The collection brings together a multitude of responses to these doubts and the conflicts of the time, ranging, as it does, from the emergence of European pictorial informalism to the new realists, while exploring neo-realist cinema and documentaries.
